Since the Master Set is a one-time purchase rather than a subscription, new designs are generally not included free of charge with existing purchases. It would simply be too hard to justify the time it takes to develop new projects otherwise.
That said, there are a few exceptions worth knowing about:
Occasional free additions. Sometimes a new design will be included free of charge for those who have purchased the latest version of the Master Set. If this happens, you'll just need to re-download your files to get the updated version. Check the FAQ above for instructions on how to do that.
Discounts on new files. If new projects are added and the Master Set increases in price, just send me a message and I'll sort you out with a good discount on anything that wasn't included in your original purchase.
Minor updates & improvements. If an existing project gets tweaked or improved, the updated files will always be added to your original download free of charge. Just re-download your files to get the latest version. Check the FAQ above for instructions.

For most projects, PLA is the way to go! It's the most beginner-friendly filament out there, it's cost effective, easy to print with, and has minimal warping even on open printers. Pretty much all of my projects are designed and printed in PLA, including the camera arm which is a great example of just how strong PLA can be!
That said, there are a few exceptions depending on your needs:
High temperatures. If your print needs to withstand temperatures above 55°C, PETG is a better choice and it's still quite easy to print with!
Strength. If you need stronger prints, ABS-GF is the first recommendation, and for ultimate strength PAHT-CF is the way to go, though it's on the pricier side. Keep in mind that both of these require an enclosed printer.
